– Cornell Bottled Water Campaign - Large amounts of fossil fuels are required to manufacture plastic bottles and then ship bottled water great distances. However, quality and safety standards for tap water far exceed those for bottled water.  This campaign focuses on educating the Cornell community of the advantages of using tap water and nalgenes, and eventually banning the sale of bottled water on campus.  More involvement welcome. Possible projects:

• A survey of a sample of county residents re their attitudes towards plastic/paper vs. reusable bags. Using Survey Monkey?
• Research on alternatives to single use bags.
• Outreach to public on shopping bag issues--tabling events, etc.
• Continue project that Chelsea Clark started at CU to transition CU Dining retain outlets away from single-use bags.
• Encourage other reusable bag use at CU--Campus Store, like IC did?
• Out reach and education for peers at CU, IC, TC3 res hopping bag issues so they can take "the message" back home\--develop a brochure for this purpose.
• Outreach to County legislature members to build support for ban-the-bag legislation in TC.
• Canvas local merchants vendors to assess level of interest and promote reusable bags to same--work with TC Solid Waste at this end?
