– Sustainability
Hub Outreach - The Hub is in desperate
need of someone to work on our Sustainability Boards (displayed in the
libraries and dining halls) and work
on our website (http://rso.cornell.edu/sustainabilityhub).
In addition, a blogger for sustainithaca.org would be greatly
appreciated. The blog currently connects Ithaca College, Cornell, and
some downtown people, but further expansion is needed.

– Marketing
& Communications for Cornell facilityŐs sustainability programs:
Behind the scenes at Cornell, dozens of ongoing sustainability programs are making a difference every day. These programs are within the facilities departments and include initiatives such as setting green building policy, purchasing green cleaning products, recycling, planting native plants, and greening our computer systems. Over 36 programs have been documented by the Office of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability. An individual or team can work with this office to identify marketing and communication opportunities for these programs, work with facilities staff to develop and possibly implement a marketing/communications project. These projects will help raise awareness on campus and among alumni about the many unseen ways Cornell facilities is contributing to campus sustainability.

– Blogging
Cornell Sustainability
There are many individuals across the campus from students to faculty to staff who are taking leadership to make Cornell sustainable. We are looking for an individual or team to develop a blogging program for the Cornell Sustainable Campus Website. The team would need to identify and recruit a diverse network of bloggers who would agree to write about their personal efforts and perspectives on a rotating basis. The team would also work with website managers to design the page and create a plan to ensure the consistency and high quality of materials posted.

Life Green Team
The Green Team focuses on sustainability
education and programs that encourage personal sustainability within the dorms
and other areas of campus life. One of the goals for the team is to increase
student participation in their various programs in dorms and around campus. An
individual or team could work with the Green Team to implement their goals
among students.

– New
Sustainability Course Roster and brochure
In 2005 a team of students created a brochure on all courses and programs relating to sustainability. The new Cornell Center for a Sustainable Future wants to create a new course roster and brochure with many new classes added. In addition the Center would like to develop an online tool for finding sustainability courses and programs. An individual or team would work with the CenterŐs director and IT specialist to develop the criteria for courses to be listed, research all the appropriate courses, and develop new materials for students and other groups.

– National
assessment of media coverage on sustainability in higher education
CNN, Time, the New York Times and many other mainstream media sources have begun to cover the explosion of sustainability initiatives on campuses. The field is growing quickly and at times the media coverage is inconsistent and even inaccurate. The Center for a Sustainable Future wants to assess the current state of media coverage, how Cornell is being perceived, and what steps Cornell can take to improve its visibility and the accuracy of reporting on Cornell. A team or individual would work with the Center and other communications groups on campus to do media research and develop recommendations for the Center.
